MCFC Annual General Meeting

rescheduled AGM.jpg

We’ve rescheduled - Please join us for our 2020 Annual General Meeting on Monday October 19th, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:30 over Zoom. Although we toyed with the idea of holding an outdoor event this year, we decided the safest and most inclusive way to hold a meeting is virtually. If anyone does not have access to a reliable internet connection, we will have a phone-in option available.

This year we will be combining our AGM with our partner organization, the Nova Scotia Working Woodlands Trust (NSWWT). NSWWT has made major strides in the past few months and we're excited to share many updates and goals for the next year.

Our proposed agenda will be as follows (items may change):

6:00 - 6:45 - MCFC Key Updates:

  • Negotiations

  • Operations

  • Recreation

  • Research

  • Outreach

6:45 - 7:30 - MCFC Business Meeting
7:30 - 7:40 - Break

7:40 - 8:10 - NSWWT Key Updates:

  • Charitable registration and NS eligible body

  • Strategic planning and next steps

8:10 - 8:30 - NSWWT Business Meeting

All are welcome to attend the both AGMs, but only members are entitled to a vote. If you are not yet an MCFC member, membership is a one-time $25 fee, and enables you to have a vote in the matters of the MCFC, access member benefits including discounted firewood, and have the ability to build forest-based businesses on our license area. If you would like to continue to see community forestry tested in Nova Scotia in the future, please consider purchasing a membership today.

We have two new directors up for nomination this year, Connor O'Brien and George Townsend. We're excited at the prospect of having both of these talented individuals bring their experience to the table. Please take the chance to read both of their biographies here. Two of our long-serving directors, Jane Barker and Angelika Waldow will be stepping down this year. We thank both Jane and Angelika for all of their contributions and many volunteer hours over the years.
