The MCFC hosts a variety of workshops and events every year for our members and the general public.

As a community forest, the MCFC is dedicated to a very high level of public participation, and sharing the uses of the forest is an integral component to that. We welcome suggestions for future events and partnerships with educational institutions, and invite you to contact us if you’re interested in helping initiate a future event.

WORKSHOPS AND PUBLIC EVENTS

We host a variety of workshops and events throughout the year. Our popular annual events include a wild foods workshop, operations field tours, and our Annual General meeting. We are always integrating new events into our calendar and are looking forward to partnering to host events centred around backcountry camping, yoga in the woods and medicinal plants in the coming summers. Along with our rotation of events we also integrate guided hikes with local experts or special workshops for professionals.

To find out when our next event is coming up, stay posted to our facebook page or events calendar!

FOREST MARKET & FAIR

Our most poplar community event to date has been our forest market and fair, held each year at the end of August. Rotating annually between locations in the south shore and Annapolis Royal, the fair showcases Nova Scotia wood and non-timber product merchants and artisans. Through hosting the fair, we develop relationship with specialty wood buyers who are interested in obtaining sustainably-sourced wood, and provide vendors an opportunity to sell and share their products with the public.

Contact us today if you’re interested in selling your fares at a future market.

SPECIAL EVENTS & PRIVATE TOURS

The MCFC also hosts tour for public groups interested in learning about Crown Land forest management and our own management planning principles. Whether you’re interested in a personal tour or are a part of a public interest or school group hoping to learn more about silviculture and forestry, we’re adaptable and willing to accommodate a variety of tours. We ask that all tours are scheduled two or more weeks in advance for staff scheduling.
